Following the theme running through World Youth Day held in Krakow from 26th to 31st July 2016 – “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy” (Matt. 5, 7) – the John Paul II Youth Foundation of the Pontifical Council for the Laity continues its well established tradition of accompanying the event with a great art exhibition, organising an important show entitled “Maria Mater Misericordiae. For around four months, absolute masterpieces will be on show by artists of the calibre of Michelangelo, Giovanni Bellini, Francisco de Zurbaran, Correggio, Mantegna, Titian, Annibale Carracci, Sebastiano del Piombo, Fra Angelico, and Raphael, to name only some of the best known.
