The art collections
of the Borromeo Princes
and Colonna Princes
are amongst the most important
private collections in Europe.
Both open to the public
with different modalities,
they share an ancient
tradition of family collecting
and patronage.

Within the Expo 2015, from 21 March until 25 October 2015, the exhibition
The Enchanted Islands. The Grand Tour and View Painting in the Borromeo Dominions:
from Gaspar van Wittel to Luigi Ashton
will be held at the Borromeo Palace, Isola Bella. The Colonna collection
takes part in the exhibition with two paintings by Vanvitelli depicting
The Borromean Islands, while at the same time two works by Vanvitelli
from the Borromeo collection “St. Peter’s Basilica” and “The Quirinal Palace”
will be exhibited at the Colonna Palace in Rome.
